- developing students’ technical skills on their instrument
- developing students’ listening, analytical and teamwork skills in ensemble performance.
- building students’ vocabulary in musical terminology and theory.
- improving students’ understanding of a variety of musical styles through listening, discussion,
- analysis and performance.
- To improve students’ ability to connect intellectual and emotional though processes through high-quality musical performance.
- To allow each student meaningful opportunities for self-expression through musical performance.
- To enable students to become educated and discriminating consumers of music.
- To build individual character, esteem and teamwork through group accomplishment.
- The curriculum is circular in nature. There is similarity from year to year, but comprehensive development in the areas shown above requires four years of study.
- This handbook is your guide to success as a member of the FVHS Band Program and should be kept as a reference. It contains the operating rules, schedules, grading system and goals of the program. Many questions you may have about the operation of the group will be answered here.
